we spotted this great wagon wheel earlier in the summer on a trip "up the mountain" for the tow company, but hadn't had a chance to get a picture with it. We had dinner here last Friday night... hoping against hope that we would be seated at the table in front of the wagon wheel. No luck. Finally, towards the end of our meal the family sitting there left and we could get a pretty good shot. My Mom kept wanting me to just walk over there - but we are much to shy for that. Chris improvised!

Lone Tree
Team Unofficial
Spokane, WA
We had just left a quick tour of Arbor Crest Winery and were on our way down to Millwood and spotted the Lone Tree. Barb and Marcia are great snapshot scavenger hunters. No wonder they were the winners last year!!!

We continued on to Millwood after a great time in Greenbluff. We stopped at the famous Rocket Bakery, had some coffees and cookies. Barb headed down an alley to turn around and spotted the barber shop.

Saturday in the Park

While on our trip with team Young to the Sequoia & Kings Canyon Parks, we spotted this sign on the way to Lodgepole. We kept seeing signs for the National Forest and National Monument, but finally found the park sign. Also learned the difference between the three, no hunting in the parks but its ok in the forest, and the monument is there to help protect the Sequoia trees.

Dana & Chris have driven by this monument many many times while on tows in the Sequoia & Kings Canyon Parks, but had never actually paid attention to it. While on a trip with Team Young up to the park we stopped to check it out. This area had been logged between the late 1800's and early 1900's and the logs were sent down to Sanger via 10 mile Creek (which flows into the Kings River). Once the area was declared a National Forest, logging in the area stopped, and the Sequoias will never be logged commercially again.

We had to stop in to see Chris and pick up the keys to their family cabin up in Wilsonia. Inside Sequoia National Park near Grant Grove. Look what we spotted sitting on the counter, a cute black bear. While we were in Sequoia and driving back from going to see some BIG TREES near Lodgepole we actually saw some black bears. Since they were definitely in the wild, we did not get out and have our picture taken with them. It was a mama bear and her two cubs, they were so cute and had very big paws!
This is our final entry for the scavenger hunt this summer, we were excited to get all 20 items this time around!
And this is my town...

Mark and Nancy took a day trip up to Sonoma and Santa Rosa a couple Saturday's ago... as we were driving into Santa Rosa looking for the Luther Burbank house we spotted this and we thought it was pretty funny since our team member is Chris! Too bad he couldn't be there for the photo!
You'll need to check out this video to get my music lyrics for this post ;-) Go ahead... listen, you'll like it!
In Penny Lane
there is a barber showing photographs
of every head he's had the pleasure to know.
All the people that come and go
Stop and say hello.

We spotted this little barber shop a few months ago, but finally found a day when the area wasn't quite so busy and we were able to pop in for a photo. Obviously Chris isn't showing off the haircut he got there since he's wearing his hat...
